halak wanted to play against the habs, his old team, i dont think johnson was ever going to play on saturday.

as for yesterday, i wasnt shocked about halak. its the last game before a week break - the ASG is as good as a practice -- i like the mentality. get 2 more points and go into the break on a high note.

I don't care what the reasoning was I Don't like having him play in back to back nights. You would think Cap would have learned when the last time Halak did that He was imediately put on the IR afterwards. This is a MUCH bigger work load than he is used to already. He is Clearly our best player so far this season. If he gets hurt this wonderful story could go south very fast.

I have not seen anything like that since Steve Webb days.

Eventually he is going to have to play back to backs. If he can't go back to back then they are already in trouble. Every other team in the league has a #1 goalie who can go back to back if need be.

90 % of the time they don't have their goalie do it. I just feel like he is burning him out. Like many of his decisions I just don't like it. Play Chad or bring someone else in ... (I am scared to death of a Nabby type melt down like last year).

He's fine. He'll get plenty of rest the 2nd half of the season. The top 8 teams in the conference are pretty much set already. I don't think you'll see him playing as many games in the 2nd half as he did the 1st half. I'm glad you don't like most of Cappy's decisions because for the most part they have all worked out just fine

Exactly. Flyers going down everywhere. Might not have had the best game overall. But I have to believe that line secured that win in that 3rd period. Flyers had a quick goal and tried to take some momentum.

turn down the dramatics...this is the NHL. if he cant play back to back then the team is in big trouble come playoff time...

(response about keeping him fresh for those playoff back-to-backs)

(response to that about needing him to make sure we get to playoffs)

(irrelevant gif from me)

Fun fact from twitter:

Nick Leddy and Johnny Boychuk are #1 and #2, respectively, in the entire NHL in fenwick %

I'm actually confident that they'll get both of them signed, which feels odd. I mean Leddy is an RFA and they rarely don't stay with the team that holds their rights. Boychuk was the big one that was worrying me. But based on some of the stuff his brother tweeted, seeing that he appears to be pretty damn happy (and loved) here, and the fact that he has newborn twins that I'm sure he would like to lay down some permanent roots for...I'm starting to grow pretty confident that he will stay.

Dramatics? I just said I don't like him playing back to backs. Especially with the added work load. How is that dramatic?

Billy Smith was recently complaining about how Al would only let him play 30 games during the season to keep him fresh for playoffs. He was complaining b/c he would have THAT many more wins. having Halak play 4 games in 7 nights is a little excessive.
